From the Principal's Desk

Good morning my dear parents and happy Sunday. In this edition, I will bring to your notice our activities of second week of resumption. We continued with academic activities, admission of new students and their orientation on Evangel Seminary Ovom 1 Aba  Dos and Don'ts.
In the last edition, I informed you that our theme for the new session is SOAR. In line with our practices, we are pressing on  the theme through our morning assembly to convey the meaning and it's implications morally and academically.
To soar means, among others:
1.To sail or hover in the air often at a great height.
2. To rise quickly upward to a great height.
3. To rise or increase dramatically as in position, value and price
4. To grow capacity to a majestic level.
Our school has come of age and cannot afford to crawl when it should be running and flying. We don't want to dwell where others are resting. We want to rise on the wings of faith in God to do more exploits.
The theme applies to our staff and students. We shall take the flights together without leaving anyone behind.
We have lined up our normal academic activities to keep our students fully occupied and through our department of Further Studies to start this week as follows:
1. Literacy class. A list of students who scored English language and mathematics below 40% has been compiled. This will include new students who scored below our cut off marks. Parents of concerned students will be informed through SMS this week. It's only on their permission we can go on. The fee is #5000 per subject per term and free for new students for this term.
2. Extra lessons: This is essential for senior students who need extra lessons for core subjects such as English, Maths, literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Fin Acctg etc. In our school, parents don't pay money to get higher score in external exams. We rather equip our students to face their exams. It's #8000 for maximum of 3 subjects per term.
3. JAMB preparation. In the spirit of our theme, we have announced to  SS 3 students that our focus is to see them make 350 JAMB score. The preparation will start earlier than we did last year. We shall continue to rehearse it to their ears through our announcements. The fee will be announced later
4. Phonetics. This class is for Students and staff who need the queen's English either to improve themselves or for those who must travel abroad. It's #5000 per month
5. Computer literacy. This will be a three months intensive training (certificated) to become proficient in Microsoft packages of words, Excel spreadsheet, power point, coral draw. The candidates can work as competent computer operators. Please note that this doesn't take over the existing training in our time table. The amount of fee will be communicated later.
6. French class. This is for those who want to learn French for associated benefits. With time, we shall introduce other foreign languages. Fee payable will be announced later.
7. Foreign exams This is for exams like TOFEL, IELTS, GMAT, SAT, etc. We started from the summer lesson and the first set will be through by November. The fee is #40,000 per exam.
All these classes will be arranged to hold outside our normal school periods on Fridays,  Saturdays and for now Mondays. They will involve the extra time of our teachers who will be paid for it.
Please feel free to get back to me privately since this platform is for information only. Until I come your way in the next bulletin, remain blessed and rapturable.
